The Paradox of the Educated World
We live in the most educated era in human history. More people hold degrees, diplomas, and professional qualifications than at any previous point in recorded civilisation. And yet the quality of decision-making — in organisations, in governments, in households — remains alarmingly poor.
Nobel laureate Daniel Kahneman spent a career documenting the systematic errors in human reasoning that persist regardless of education level. Philip Tetlock's decades of research on expert prediction revealed that most highly credentialled professionals predict no better than chance on complex questions outside their narrow domain.
The leadership literature is equally sobering. Despite billions spent annually on leadership development globally, organisational dysfunction, ethical failures, and leadership derailment remain stubbornly common. We are not producing better leaders by teaching more leadership content.
The conclusion is uncomfortable but inescapable: we have confused the accumulation of knowledge with the development of wisdom. We have mistaken credential for capability. We have built an education system that is very good at producing qualified people and not nearly good enough at producing wise ones.

At SRLHD: Every SRLHD lesson begins with a question, not an answer. We use structured Socratic dialogue, devil's advocate exercises, and peer interrogation to develop the habit of rigorous self-examination.

What we teach must be supported by the best available evidence. Tradition, authority, and popularity are not sufficient justifications for including anything in a curriculum.
At SRLHD: SRLHD content is reviewed against current research in cognitive science, behavioural economics, leadership studies, and human development. We revise when better evidence emerges. We do not teach what merely sounds good.

Your First Day
You will not receive a syllabus and a reading list. You will receive a challenge — a real dilemma, a genuine problem, a case that has no obvious answer. Your first task is not to learn — it is to think. Everything follows from that.
Inside Every Lesson
Expect to be questioned. Expect to have your assumptions examined. Expect to be asked not just what you think but why you think it — and whether your reasoning holds under scrutiny. This is not comfortable. It is transformative.
